Sewing Machines Frequently Asked Questions
The most common questions customers have about sewing machines
Which way do you turn the handwheel on a sewing machine?
Always turn the handwheel TOWARDS you (counter clockwise) as turning it in the opposite direction (away from you, clockwise) may knock the timing out requiring repair from a service center.
How do you use a presser foot?
Always be sure your presser foot is in the DOWN position before sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will cause your thread to tangle and your bobbin to jam.
How often should you change the needle on your sewing machine?
Change needles regularly (after 6 hours of use) as dull/weak needles can cause damage to your machine and fabric.
Are all sewing machine bobbins the same?
Always be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look very similar. However, using the incorrect bobbin class in your machine can cause damage.
How do you transport sewing machine after service?
Transport your machine safely so when you get it home the controls are in good working order and the machine is undamaged. Ensure the machine is plugged back in properly, thread the machine with the presser foot up, and thread your bobbin so that it turns counter clockwise if it is a drop in style, and clock wise if you are looking at the bobbin in the bobbin case for a push in style bobbin case.
